The Honest Label: What We List, What We Skip, and Why

The skincare industry has a transparency problem. Terms like “natural,” “clean,” and “botanical” carry no legal definition in cosmetics regulation. A product can label itself natural while containing synthetic fragrance compounds, petroleum-derived emollifiers, and preservatives that have nothing to do with nature. At Heliox Goods, we took a different approach from day one.

Full INCI Disclosure

Every product page on our site lists the complete International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients for that formulation. INCI is the standardized naming system used by regulatory bodies worldwide, and it eliminates the ambiguity of marketing language. When we list “Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil,” you know exactly what species of jojoba went into the bottle, not just that it contains “plant oils.”

We go further than INCI requires. Each ingredient entry includes the extraction method (cold-pressed, steam-distilled, or CO2 extracted), the country or region of origin, and its function in the formulation (carrier, active, emulsifier, preservative, or fragrance). This level of detail is uncommon in the industry because it exposes the quality of raw materials in a way that generic INCI listings do not.

What We Skip

We do not use synthetic fragrance compounds, which the industry bundles under the single INCI term “Parfum” or “Fragrance.” That single word can represent dozens of undisclosed chemicals, some of which are known sensitizers. We do not use parabens, sulfates, phthalates, or formaldehyde-releasing preservatives. We do not use petroleum-derived ingredients like mineral oil or petrolatum. Every aromatic note in our products comes from identified essential oils or botanical extracts, each listed individually by its INCI name.

Why This Costs More

Transparency has a cost. Sourcing verified, single-origin carrier oils costs more than buying blended commodity oils from brokers who aggregate from multiple regions and harvests. Testing each batch for purity and potency adds laboratory fees that mass producers amortize across millions of units. Listing extraction methods requires supplier relationships deep enough to trace raw materials back to the press or still.

We accept these costs because the alternative is asking you to trust a label that tells you less than you deserve to know. Every Heliox Goods product earns your trust by showing you everything we put in it and everything we left out.
